Being in the Great Outdoors
One of my favorite things to do is to go camping and backpacking.
I really enjoy spending time in the great outdoors, camping in a tent and taking day hikes. Every now and then I may even get out and do a backpack trek. Of course the best times to do this is on the long weekends, hit the spots that are hard to get to just so our group doesn't run into the holiday traffic.
If I can't get out and do a little hiking, I may spend the day gardening, grab a game of volleyball or just spend the day relaxing in the pool and most of all - being with my friends.

Literature
A couple really good books with a variety of trails we like to use is "101 Hikes in Southern California" by Jerry Schad and "Pacific Crest Trail - So. Calif." by Schifrin, Winnett, Schaffer & Jenkins. The one we use most frequently for camping is "Foghorn Outdoors California Camping" by Tom Stienstra.
