Inside Our Social Environment
While some of the things I do for the environment are very minor, I believe we can all help out with a little conscious thought.
For years, folks have known me as the "Avon Lady" and could recognize when I was in their area by when they saw the "little white scooter." Even now, many years later (presently not selling Avon - but I can refer a rep for you) they recognize me on a totally different scooter. I was driving through an area in Long Beach the other day and was "honked" and flagged down by an old customer -- "Aren't you the Avon Lady?" she asked... (Smiles).
I enjoy riding the scooter and it is great for the environment (and saves a bundle on gasoline!)
I have always believed in recycling, reducing the waste/use of paper products and invent uses for the re-use of other materials. Some day in the near future I hope to drag out the ol' bicycle and start peddling away the pounds.
Allergies Because of Social Environment
Roughly, in 1995, I became ultra-sensitive to synthetic products. Nature does not bother me; however, engineered scents drive me crazy! Forget having a normal life -- the attacks come on suddenly and it's as if someone has just stabbed a hot poker in your sinuses.
Forget walking down the laundry soap isle at the grocery store...
Forget perfume counters and scented pages in magazines -- they are so horrid! Instant headaches, besides the vanity factor of always having a red nose, a sniffing and runny nose and have to continually take antihistamines. One attack took me from work for three days; my nose had swollen to three times its normal size, and the pain was unbearable for over a week. Moreover, I am sure I was a witch with a capital "B". This all led me to find out more on allergies that are caused by our social environment and not nature.
Think of all the products we use, from scented nose tissues, room fresheners, perfumes, deodorants, hairsprays, shower gels and scented lotions -- just to name a few... how many of us use 5 or more of these before we start our day? Think about it!
Well, the research is a difficult task, let me tell you! I have only just begun and as I find out more news and tidbits, I will add them to these pages.
